Ed is a self-taught IT engineer—brilliant, curious, and quick to solve problems. But growing up, his intelligence made him feel like an outsider. The smarter he became, the less he fit in with the world around him. That loneliness opened the door to addiction, and eventually, Ed burned himself out completely. He reached a point where he didn’t want to die, but he didn’t know how to keep living either.

And that’s where everything began to change.

Today, Ed is a school teacher, mentoring and nurturing kids who feel just like he once did. He’s a husband, a leader, and a man who rebuilt his life from the edge.

Ed came to us about four years ago, just looking for a new start. He committed to his recovery, put in the work, and quickly began to shine. He was promoted to House Manager, and today, he serves as our Chief Operating Officer, overseeing six sober houses and caring for the men walking the same path he once walked.

Ed is coming up on four years clean and sober—a powerful milestone. He often says he never thought this kind of life was possible for him. But today, not only is he sober, he’s a leader, a mentor, and a man his mother is incredibly proud of.

He’s grateful for every part of this journey—especially the fact that his mom gets to see him thriving, sober, and building a career in helping others do the same.
