  • Rish Outcast 16: Birth of a Sidekick (Part 3)
Originally, this was going to be the final episode of my presentation of "Birth of a Sidekick."  But now . . . it's not. Music by Kevin McLeod, of Incompetech. Special thanks to Gino Moretto for the logo, which is only 612 times better than what I came up with myself. Thanks!

  • Rish Outcast 14: Birth of a Sidekick (Part 1)
So, I'm going to try something a little different here.  I'm going to run my somewhat-lengthy story "Birth of a Sidekick" on the Rish Outcast, breaking it up into sections.*  If people enjoy that, I'll do it again, if I ever find the ambition. I'll try to put out these episodes in a more rigid schedule, and see if I can't get the tale told in a timely manner. Right click HERE to download the episode, select Save Link As, and save the file to your hard drive. *If you would care to purchase the story, it can be found here:  and the audiobook is here.

  • Rish Outcast 21: Metacast
Rish talks briefly (alright, semi-briefly) about the point of the podcast and ruminates a bit about creativity. To download the episode, right click HERE and save to your infernal device.

  • The Podcast That Dares Not Speak Its Name 9: "...Comedy Is Hard"
This episode is unlike any I have done before.  It's a lengthy (sprawling? interminable? endless?) essay recorded in one sitting.  The topic is Comedy.  What is off-limits in making people laugh, and do I know the difference between being funny and being offensive?  Can I keep on a single topic for more than five minutes?*  And what does Fake Sean Connery think?  If you've ever wanted a glimpse inside my head, here it is.  You've been warned. To download the episode, right click RIGHT HERE. Music for this episode was "Across the Divide" by Kevin McLeod, from Incompetech.com. *Spoiler alert: no.

  • Rish Outcast 18 (Christmas show)
Sorry kids, I'm a bit too tired and busy to do a Christmas story this year.*  But I'm still up for talking about doing a story, and about the Christmasness of it all. I will consider trying harder next year. Rish "I Wish To Be Left Alone.  Since You Ask Me What I Wish, That Is My Answer" Outfield Hey, kids, to download the episode, right click right HERE. *Since this recording, I did finish that story, and the only way I was able to get past its major problem was to embrace it.  It was fun to have a main character who didn't know the difference between French and Italian (or "manic" and "maniac," for that matter), and I'm sure I'd be a happier soul if I didn't know the difference either.

  • Rish Outcast 12: A Wish Your Butt Makes
So, no story this time, though they are on the way.  Find out what's coming for me, my projects, and the Dunesteef.  I recorded this quickly because it's rare to get me in a positive, goal-oriented mood. Let's see if I can get it posted as quickly. Right click HERE to download the episode, select Save Link As, and save the file to your hard drive.

  • Rish Outcast 6: A Little More Conversation
There's no story in this one.  Actually, there used to be, but since I didn't get to it until the twenty-two minute mark, I figured I ought to split it in two.  If you don't want to know my thoughts on writing and podcasting, you can skip this one. • The Podcast That Dares Not Speak Its Name 5: The Signalman
It has been many months since I put out an episode of my original solo podcast, the one which should not be named aloud. It's been so long that I can't remember if I used to post them here or just send them out to Dunesteef subscribers. But, I recorded these before I ever had my Rish Outcast, so I need to release them somewhere. In this one, I perform and discuss Charles Dickens's "The Signalman." Hilarity does not ensue. • Rish Outcast 1
Months ago, when Big and I recorded our last episode of the Dunesteef (by "last," I mean "most recent"), he encouraged me to create a solo podcast where I read stories and then talk about them. I told him that I already have a podcast where I do that (The Podcast That Dares Not Speak Its Name), and he told me nobody ever hears those, that he was suggesting I do something like his Anklecast, where he records it during his drive to work, does no editing, and posts it on his blog. "You could call it," he said, "the Rish Outcast." Well, I sort of scoffed, despite the title being rather brilliant. And then, on the drive home, I went ahead and decided to do it. This is the recording I made on that drive, and the actual story-driven episodes are forthcoming. Enjoy?
