The Vaccine Mandate struck most Americans as an unwelcome September Surprise. The Political Class had promised not to mandate the jab to the General Public. They invoked the superior power of persuasion and said that there was no legal precedent for a Federal Vaccine Mandate to be imposed on the general public. This messaging was a regular part of Biden’s bid for the Presidency. However, hypocrisy has no shame. The political elites violated their word and the disempowered feel betrayed. Johnny and Tony discuss the mandate in this riveting episode. 

As a State-Skeptic, Tony asserts that the Mandates have been justified by the Utilitarian Argument (doing the right thing means the most good for the most people). He argues that the Moral Argument (Right vs. Wrong) is the foundation of the American System and that Vaccine Mandates are merely another step down the road towards tyranny.

Johnny argues that vaccines work, are extremely effective, and that the best way to do the most good is by persuasion rather than mandates. Reasonable policy, without infringing upon individual liberty would have been the correct approach. One of Johnny's chief concerns is the possibility of civic turmoil as a result of the mandate.

Tony and Johnny discuss the role of government, specifically regarding Law and Order.

Tony the “State-Skeptic”, explains that society is already governed by institutions and traditions. In many cases, the state is a vessel for disorder and confusion. He challenges the conventional notion that law and order must always be dispensed by the state. Looking to the Gaelic (Ancient Ireland) and the Ancient Hebrews (Old Testament as the source) as societies that relied on a compensatory justice system rather than a punitive one. Tony argues for a justice system that elevates compensation above vengeance. Overall, his take is that vengeance does not belong to the state, it belongs to the Lord.

Johnny defends his Modern Conservative Point of View. He explains that good government must meet two criterion: Limited and Accountable. The scope of government must be limited to defending the rights of its citizens (from invading forces, transgressions by other citizens, etc.). The methods and actions of the governments must be closely monitored and held accountable by the governed. In order to prevent society from spiraling into an anarchic disorder, the state plays a pivotal role. The key is finding the proper balance between Liberty and State Regulation. The state’s role is to protect those inherent, God-Given, individual rights.
