  • Cloud Computing Driving Nation Transformation

Philip Abraham, Founder, Chairman & Chief Technology Officer at CloudFace Labs & CloudFace LLC  participates in Risk Roundup to discuss Cloud Computing Driving Nation Transformation.

    Cloud Computing Driving Nation Transformation

As cloud computing shapes the digital global age, we the humans, now have the ability to imagine, innovate, and create a whole new world of possibilities– a novel way of doing things that were beyond individual human imagination and capabilities so far. Cloud computing is driving nation transformation.

It seems that this amazing ability of “cloud computing” extends the range of human imagination and exploration beyond the individual, inherent, imperfect, and incomplete processing capability of the human brain as we know it now. As a result, “cloud computing” is seen by many across the nation as the innovation that would bring the next wave of fundamental transformation for nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA).

While “cloud computing” is getting embraced for the potential benefits it could provide in speed, efficiency, flexibility, authenticity, accessibility, and affordability; it isn’t just about benefiting industries or improving processes. It greatly benefits governments, organizations, academia as well as individuals, in short, entire nations, irrespective of their geographical location and gives an opportunity for novel business, management, and governance models.

Cloud computing not only has the potential to accelerate ideas, innovations, and transformation in cyberspace but also encourages and enhances collaborations and cooperation within, between, and across NGIOA in cyberspace, geospace, and space (CGS).

As a result, the ability to collect and evaluate data in cyberspace from numerous sources in geospace and space creates a huge potential for cloud computing to generate breakthroughs in many fields! In short, cloud computing brings nations, and human society the potential to bring fundamental transformation and is on its way to changing the way entities across NGIOA drive value from the Digital Global Age.

While “cloud computing” brings disruptive potential and possibilities for each individual and entity across NGIOA, it also brings critical security risks that need to be identified, understood, and managed. Time is now to talk about Cloud Computing.

  • Complex Security Risks of 4G to 5G Evolution

Scott Schober, President, and CEO of “Berkeley Varitronics Systems”, participate in Risk Roundup with Jayshree Pandya to discuss the Complex Security Risks of  4G to 5G Evolution.

Complex Security Risks of 4G to 5G Evolution

Over the years, the market demand for the change in wireless networks has come at a neck-breaking pace as the internet of things, smartphones, tablets, laptops and other forms of computers have rapidly become a way of being and a way of life. It is because of this market demand and the widening gap between the current and desired state of the wireless networks, that the mobile industry is undergoing a major technology transformation.

As we see today, from smart cities to smart homes, smart autos to smart healthcare, smart enterprises, and more, there is a need for fast and ubiquitous network access that connects cyberspace, geospace, and space (CGS). As the digital global age advances, wireless networks will need to handle mobile computing and communications needs of not only individuals and entities across NGIOA but also billions of internet of things, internet of everything, and internet of nano-things devices and machines across CGS.

As the digital global age draws near, along with the growing volume of data traffic and variety of innovative digital services, the opportunities and challenges for next-generation 5G technologies will likely increase to unseen-before levels (4G). As entities across NGIOA, independently and collectively navigate their way towards supporting a 5G connected CGS world, its complex security risks are becoming a cause of great concern.

The time is now to take the security of 5G infrastructures seriously into consideration. The time is now to talk about 5G security risks!

  • Will Blockchain Secure the Internet of Things

Andre De Castro, CEO, and Founder of Blockchain of Things participates in Risk Roundup to discuss whether Blockchain will secure the Internet of Things.

    Blockchain and Internet of Things

Will blockchain secure the internet of things? As the digital global age witnesses, transformative technological advances that are disrupting entities across NGIOA, countless business and trade transactions are already happening in the digital global marketplace. And of course, protecting these digital records and transactions from corruption, manipulation, theft has become a vital necessity for each nation: its government, industries, organization, and academia (NGIOA).

Now, to be able to protect these digital transactions requires a fundamental understanding of risks—understanding where the risks come from and how can we manage it effectively. The critical security risks of the web originate from not only digital transactions but each digital initiative, product, and service that goes through the world wide web or cyberspace. Understandably “Security” for all these initiatives, products, services, and applications on the world wide web is of the greatest importance today and in the coming tomorrow.

As the worldwide web expands and goes global from local: and beyond the closed knit circle of trusted individuals, the fundamental trust between the web users, that is individuals from across nations disappears. In other words, with the fading trust within, between, and across web users, everyone using the web is now vulnerable to its security risks. As the vulnerability to web security increases, there is a growing feeling that security is rapidly becoming a myth. Time is now to talk about whether blockchain will secure the internet of things.

  • The Outcome Economy Unleashing the Potential of Internet of Things

Joe Barkai, Author of the book “Outcome Economy and the Internet of Things” participates in Risk Roundup to discuss The Outcome Economy  Unleashing the Potential of the Internet of Things.

The Outcome Economy – Unleashing the Potential of the Internet of Things

We all look for an “outcome” in our daily lives, daily activities, and actions in what we do, what we produce, how we produce, when we produce as well as how we sell, purchase, and desire.

However, until recently neither individuals nor the entities across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) had any direct control over most of the activities happening around them in their ecosystem. Each one of us was forced to settle with what was available versus what was desirable.

Having said that, it now seems that across many nations, there is a growing trend that, when individuals, consumers, clients, and citizens buy or subscribe to any product now, they have begun to look at all available products from a very different perspective—based on an outcome they desire.

It is the advances in “technology” that has made this desire for an “outcome” a reality. To be specific, it is the “internet of things (IoTs), big data analytics and cloud computing solutions” that are allowing nations the potential to create, frame, desire, acquire, sell and buy or subscribe to “outcomes”. While the potential to look for desired outcomes or to produce, sell, purchase or acquire “desired outcomes” brings a fundamental change to the current technology, products, services, processes, business, management, and governance models across nations, the most important change is perhaps to the power that has come to individuals, each one of us– common citizens and to the human potential across nations.  Time is now to talk about The Outcome Economy – Unleashing the Potential of the Internet of Things!

  • Complex Security Risks of Mediterranean Region

Vassilios Damiras, CEO and Chairman of Geostrategic Forecasting Corporation participates in Risk Roundup to discuss Complex Security Risks of the Mediterranean Region.

Complex Security Risks of Mediterranean Region

As the road to transport, trade, and cultural exchange seems to be blurring and fading for the nations surrounding the Mediterranean region, the region that once had so completely represented the interaction and integration of diverse cultures, communities, citizens, and collaboration, seems to be now at crossroads today.

This decline in interaction and integration has pushed the Mediterranean region towards a number of complex challenges and critical security risks.

These complex challenges, risks, and issues that range from the escalation of extremism to nationalism to the arms trade, socio-economic constraints, cyber warfare, and the on-going cyber breaches, the stability, and security of Mediterranean nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) is failing right in front of our eyes.

There is a growing concern that the Mediterranean region’s security has become a complex challenge that would impact not only those nations in the region but all nations globally. There are many who feel that framing effective security solutions for the region seems impossible. So the question is how to bring safety, security, and stability to the region when the complex risks and issues are moving towards a crisis that will put entire humanity at risk. Time is now to talk about the complex security risks of the Mediterranean region.

  • Are Education Institutions Prepared for Digital Disruption

Peter Hirst, the Associate Dean of Executive Education at MIT Sloan School of Management participates in Risk Roundup to discuss whether Educational Institutions are prepared for Digital Disruption.

    Digital Disruption in  Education

For nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA), everything and everyone today can be characterized as digitally disruptive, or if it is not disruptive yet, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes so. This digital disruption vulnerability concern from across NGIOA –as to who will disrupt and who will be disrupted, where would the disruption come from and when, and in what format is today’s greatest dilemma for each individual and decision-maker across NGIOA–and education is no different.

Education faces digital disruption too, as computer code, connected computers, the internet, and digital connectivity creates new ways of doing things. It is this potential of a new way of doing things that have made the once unchallenged education institutions vulnerable to disruption and fundamental transformation.

There is a growing concern that the education system: its framework, model, institutions, processes, and structures are not able to keep up with the growing demands of digital services fit for a digital global age.

Now looking at the changes that are already underway, it seems that the imminent digital disruption and fundamental transformation of education are going to be a difficult journey for not only the educational institutions and the industry but also every nation. Time is now to talk about digital disruption in education.

  • Embracing the Internet of Things

Rob Van Kranenburg, the Founder of the Council, The Internet of Things.EU based in Belgium participates in Risk Roundup to discuss Embracing the Internet of Things.

    Embracing the Internet of Things

Across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) there is an explosion of connectivity in cyberspace-geospace and space (CGS) seen due to the Internet of Things (IoT). This sudden change to “CGS connectivity” across NGIOA is expected to wildly grow the number of smart connected devices in the coming years.

In addition, with prior web address limits lifted, innovative solutions are coming from across nations that will provide each of its components: government, industries, organizations, and academia– many opportunities to discover, improve, streamline, and regulate its benefit, usage, effectiveness and risks within and across its CGS boundaries.

The growing reality of a digital global age is that the value of any entity across NGIOA and its competitiveness in CGS can be enhanced significantly, as they take a step forward in their digital journey to take advantage of these new innovative IoTs capabilities–and get the most value from IoT devices and the data it generates.

The ongoing rapid revolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to fundamentally transform each NGIOA in CGS and, at the same time, be shockingly disruptive to the current state of nations: its industries, how they do things, how they produce, manufacture, create, manage, govern and our very way of life. This is a critical security risk facing each nation and all of its components today.

Time is now to talk about the Internet of things.

Sean Klunder, a Chief Marketing Officer from Chief Outsiders participates in Risk Roundup to discuss Digital Disruption in Marketing.

    Digital Disruption in Marketing

Massive digital disruption is on its way across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA). With the help of advances in digital technology, processes, and digital infrastructure, digital innovators have begun to come up with innovative ideas and innovations not only in cyberspace but also in geospace and space (CGS). The resulting CGS Disruption is at a scale and pace no individual or entity across NGIOA is simply prepared for. This is a cause of great concern.

For any entity across NGIOA, everything and everyone today can be characterized as disruptive—or, if they aren’t disruptive yet, it’s only a matter of time before they become so. This disruption concern  –as to who will disrupt and who will be disrupted, where would the disruption come from and when is today’s predicament for each decision-maker across NGIOA.

No matter where we look from and where we look at, digital disruption is inevitable–and marketing is no exception. Time is now to talk about digital disruption in marketing.

  • Complex Security Challenges of Critical Infrastructure Protection

Philip Reitinger, a former “Deputy Under Secretary” for U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a Director of the National Cyber-Security Center (NCSC), and currently President and CEO of Global Cyber Alliance participates in Risk Roundup to discuss Complex Security Challenges of Critical Infrastructure Protection.

Complex Security Challenges of Critical Infrastructure Protection

Irrespective of private or public, most of the critical infrastructure as seen across nations today, has been present in one form or another for quite some time. However, it is only recently that the critical infrastructure has become dependent on information, communication, and digitization technology (ICDT) and is facing complex security challenges of critical infrastructure protection.

The assets identified as critical infrastructure in cyberspace, geospace, and space (CGS) are vital for the survival, success, and sustainability of respective nations as they contribute to its very progress and development.

These systems and assets in CGS are so vital to each nation that their incapacity or destruction would bring a debilitating impact on not only the physical security but also the CGS security, economic security, national security, safety, and the very survival of nations. Irrespective of nations, these CGS infrastructures must maintain their optimal conditions under all circumstances. Safeguarding them—needs to be the utmost priority for each and every nation: its government, industries, organizations, academia, and individuals (NGIOA-I).

Having said that, since the security of all of us depends on the security of critical infrastructure, time is now to discuss the complex challenges of critical infrastructure protection.
