but I want to run a mission a yard from the gates of hell."

Steve Camp wrote these powerful lyrics in his song Run to the Battle and they perfectly describe what my heart is feeling about our partnership with Love Life Charlotte. They have been on mission right outside the largest abortion clinic in the Southeast for two years now and the gates of Hell are crumbling!

This is the number one moral issue of our day and we are going to stand up for those who have no voice.

When the Israelites were being led by Joshua to take the Promised Land they encountered the impassible Jordan. It looked impossible, but the Israelites believed that God would be faithful just as he had been with Moses. Sure enough, the waters miraculously parted just like before at the Red Sea! Recalling God’s faithfulness is a way of connecting a past miracle to a present problem.

Like Babe Ruth pointing to centerfield and hitting the next pitch out of the ballpark, Jesus announced His resurrection beforehand. Our entire faith hangs on the belief that Jesus was raised from the dead. His resurrection results in your salvation.

The act of throwing one’s cloak down on the ground was a sign of homage and submission. People laid down their cloaks in hopes that the coming King would bring their deliverance. God put on our cloak. He put on flesh. He became a human named Jesus. His “cloak” of flesh was trampled on and abused, but it paved the way for our salvation. The Word of God committed to become human, die as a human, and remain human so we could be rescued. It’s the ultimate commitment.

esus stepped out of eternity and into a place called Earth to save us and show us the Father. He entered our home and made a way for us to enter His. Now we have a place in God and He has a place in us. God and man walking together in relationship.

It is our privilege to bring others into a place where this loving relationship can be experienced. Every space we inhabit can become a place where God’s warm hospitality welcomes people home.
