Rise of the Weird Little Creatures from the Small Creek Behind my House, also known as Rotwool, graciously invited us into their family home to record probably the most chaotic and cryptic set we've ever had the pleasure to capture. The pure drone of ambient basslines, shredding guitar licks, and howling vocals accompanied by her brothers blast beat left us wondering how one would be able to keep up with these young, emerging artists.

Back to regular programing, we are pleased to announce our return with a tremendously powerful set and interview with Terminal User Guide. Although we meet them just as they announced their break up, we were able to capture one of their only recorded live sets, right before they go off to record the last of their material before members graduate and move away.

We had a little time off and decided to do something special for you all. This is the first installment in our Music History Special Episode where we cover the death of Layne Staley, the lead singer for Alice in Chains. Twenty years ago to the day of this episode's release, we honor the life of Layne Staley on the day of his passing with his cautionary tale. You may notice that it is the same day as another famous musician's death, which we will be sure to also address. We've been considering doing something like this for a while and, depending on the response we get from this, we may do a few more special episodes on occasion.

Wow. We finally had the chance to invite over Sifter for one of the most raw and powerful sets to come out of the RCS space. We talk about the band's steady ascend into Richmond music scene, DIY river shows, and the dynamic writing duo behind the band.

It's time we sit down and talk with the founder of this nearly decade old project, Dropping Ugly. We find Simon near the end of a leg of their Run Forever Tour, where the singer is reduced to a solo act the first time in years. Also, be on the look out for the band's second album later this May.

We had to take a week off due to technical difficulties, but we're back with a spectacular set with Big Fundamental. We sit down and talk with this dynamic and energetic trio about the current state of affairs of the Richmond music scene and the changes it has undergone in the past ten years, we even speculate about the future of Richmond gig culture.

On this week's very special episode we have with us, Doug Nunnally the founder of The Auricular to talk about his new torrential undertaking the first annual Dika Newlin Music Award. We'll talk about the origins of the award and the local online publication, after Doug will introduce each of the 20 albums up for consideration. We even get questioned ourselves about the origin and inner workings of River City Sound.

This week we invited over the funky-classic rock jam band inspired Gold Station Melody. If that alone wasn't enough to pull you in, this dynamic five piece will share their secrets to writing and their opinions on our lovely city.

This week, a very special episode is helmed by our very own Chloe P. who interviews the torrential two-piece Mere Exposure Effect. We catchup  with this duo in their Mechanicsville practice space where we fight through the cold and freezing cables for a more in depth Chloe's Corner. We'll also learn about Ezekiel's preference for 5-strings and baritones to develop the unique stylings of Mere Exposure Effect.
