Today we conclude our study of Ezra. Last week we saw how Ezra responded appropriately to the exiles' sin. How would the exiles respond though? As the exiles are confronted with their sin by the word of God, we will find there is hope in hitting bottom.

There isn’t a single person on the planet that doesn’t have to address the problem of sin. In Genesis 4:7 God says to Cain, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”” (NIV). Join us this week as we explore how the great Old Testament leader Ezra provides for us step by step directions for dealing with man’s greatest problem - sin!

Last week in Ezra 7, we met Ezra. We saw his character, as well as his mission to teach God’s people the Law in Israel. In chapter 8 we get more details on the journey Ezra and his contemporaries made from Babylon to Jerusalem. Join us as we seek wisdom and guidance from Ezra’s account, for the journey that RVCC is embarking upon this Fall.

This week we finally meet the book’s namesake, Ezra. We will be introduced to Ezra and learn about a key factor in his life of faith and leadership: humility. Join us as we see what made Ezra the humble leader that he was and how we can apply it to our lives.

Ezra 5:1-2; Hebrews 10:24

Hebrews 10:24 calls us to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good deeds.” How exactly are we supposed to do this? This week we will stay in chapter 5 of Ezra, to look more closely at the prophetic ministries of Haggai and Zechariah, to consider exactly this question. We hope you’ll join us.

We continue Sunday with our third sermon in series through Ezra. This Sunday we find the people of God encountering severe resistance toward their rebuilding of the Temple. As we study this text, we will see how God led them through this time of spiritual setback and find hope for when we too experience spiritual setbacks.

Ezra 3

The exiles have made their return to the Promised Land…now what? Join us this Sunday as we dive into Ezra 3, and see how the Spirit-stirred exiles prioritized worship in their rebuilding efforts, and how RVCC plans to move forward in the same spirit.

Today marks a new beginning in the life of RVCC and in the life of our family. And as we set off on this new chapter, I'm wondering where we are looking? No, not with your physical eyes, but with what the apostle calls, "the eyes of your heart". Join us as we examine this in this week's sermon.
