You Can't Love Jesus and Not His Church

When you hear the word "Church" what is the first thing that comes to your mind and what is the first emotion you sense? "So many in this generation say they are "Christ Followers" but have no time for HIS Church. Many of us have forgotten just how amazing The Church really is. This Sunday we'll let Jesus tell us what HE means by "Church".

What is the greatest problem you are currently facing? What are the things that concern you, or cause you to lose you peace? What is the source of these problems or fears? Based on how you spend your time and money, what are you most devoted to?

In our deepest distress, the presence of God changes everything

The incarnation is not just for Christmas. John opens his description of the Christ by appealing to the first words in Scripture and subsequently the foundations of the earth. God becoming man changed the world, but did it change your life?

The Parable of the Good Samaritan is arguably the most widely known Bible lesson. Curiously, the World and the Church, who don’t agree on sin, ethics, or the primacy of Jesus somehow come to the same conclusion about this text and quote it while working to re-shape society through good deeds. But when was the point of a parable ever the topical story? And why would Luke interrupt his multi chapter lesson on the dangers of self-righteousness to encourage the very works that could induce it? In a verse by verse explication of the text we will uncover the often missed spiritual application of the parable.

In bearing witness to Jesus Christ, the early church was accused of turning the world upside down. How do we become a church turned right side up by Christ, that will turn the world upside down for Christ?
