When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.” “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah replied. “If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won’t.” As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven. Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his clothes in distress. Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. SCRIPTURE : John 1: 35-46 | Matt 28: 18-20 | Luke 14: 16
1. Come and See
This is what you have to do: V23: Compel the people to come in. COME AND SEE.
Our God desires that His house may be filled. So we have a job to do! There’s a banquet table ready for us not only in eternity but we get to worship together now on earth as the church and we have an opportunity to have the house filled all the time!
We are called to be a part of the Church and to build eachother up and say “Come and see what the Lord has done”!
We have to Invite people to church: People will make excuses and don’t get discouraged by that ~ Make sure to not put an expiration date on your invite!
2. Follow Me
Come and see is the invite, but Come and Follow me is the start of discipleship.
It doesn’t cost you anything to COME AND SEE, but it will cost you everything to take hold of COME AND FOLLOW ME
3. Go and Tell
This is known as the GREAT COMMISSION. It’s still great today and we have to do it! THE GREAT COMMISSION WAS GOD’S IDEA, NOT MAN’S IDEA
If you want to get started with the great commission, Start by inviting ALL to church.
