  • The Gospel vs. Modern Slavery (Psalm 10) | Melinda Clack | North Star Initiative

    The Gospel vs. Modern Slavery
    📖 Psalm 10

Modern slavery and human trafficking are not distant problems—they are happening every day in America and around the world. In this powerful message, the Executive Director of North Star Initiative opens Scripture and asks a crucial question: How would Jesus respond to the injustice of modern-day slavery?

Rooted in Psalm 10, this sermon exposes the reality of trafficking, gives language to the cries of the oppressed, and calls the Church to see, care, and act. At the same time, it offers deep hope—hope for survivors seeking restoration and healing, and hope through the gospel for forgiveness and transformation, even for those who have fueled this broken industry.

North Star Initiative is on the front lines of this work, providing one of the few 24/7 restoration homes for domestic sex-trafficking survivors in the region—offering Christ-centered, holistic, trauma-informed care so survivors can experience true restoration and lasting independence.

This message is both sobering and hope-filled, reminding us that God sees injustice, stands with the oppressed, and invites His people to be part of His redemptive work.

  • Power of the Word (John 1:1-3) | Pastor John Letterman | Riverview Christian

Power of the Word | The Gospel of John (Week 1)

In this opening message of our new series through The Gospel of John, we begin where Scripture begins: “In the beginning was the Word.”
John 1:1–3 introduces us to Jesus as the Logos—the eternal Word of God through whom everything was created and by whom everything is sustained.

From Genesis to the Psalms, Hebrews, and Isaiah, Scripture reveals a God who speaks and brings life out of nothing—forming galaxies, naming stars, ordering creation, and holding it all together by His Word. The same Word who created the universe is the Word who steps into our brokenness to restore, redeem, and recreate.

If God spoke light into darkness, order into chaos, and life into nothingness—do we really believe He can’t heal what’s broken in us?
Can’t breathe life into what sin has crushed?
Can’t recreate what He originally called us to be and do?

This message is an invitation to trust the power of the Word—not just to create the world, but to transform your life.

    📖 Key Scriptures:
    John 1:1–3, 12–13
    Genesis 1:1–2
    Hebrews 11:3
    Psalm 33:6, 9, 11
    Isaiah 40:26
    Psalm 8:3, 6, 9

Why not you? Why not today? Why hold back?
Believe in His name and receive the life only the Word can give.

  • Prophetic Power (Matthew 28:17-20) | Pastor John Letterman | Riverview Christian

    Prophetic Power | Matthew 28:17–20

Jesus didn’t call the Church to simply attend services and be nice—He called us to go and make disciples.

In this message, Prophetic Power, we wrestle with a tension many believers feel: God has given us a clear mission, yet we often feel powerless and unqualified to accomplish it.

Anchored in Matthew 28:17–20 and the vision of the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37, this sermon reminds us that spiritual impact is never about human strength, talent, or effort alone. It is about the breath of God.

Just as dry bones came to life when God’s Spirit breathed into them, the Church is empowered not by what we can do—but by what God chooses to breathe into us.

🔥 Key themes in this message:
The true call of the Church
Why feeling powerless is common—but not final
    The role of prophetic obedience
How God’s Spirit brings life where there was none

If you’ve ever felt stuck, ineffective, or discouraged in your faith, this message is for you.

    📖 Main Scriptures:
    Matthew 28:17–20
    Ezekiel 37:1–10

Living In Eternity NOW | 2 Corinthians 4:16–18

What if the way we enter a new year isn’t about trying harder—but about seeing differently?

In this message, Living In Eternity NOW, we explore 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 and the Apostle Paul’s call to live with an eternal perspective in a temporary world. As we reflect on identity, suffering, renewal, and what truly lasts, we’re reminded that lasting change doesn’t begin with self-improvement—it begins with who God says we are.

    This sermon challenges us to:
Stop losing heart when life feels heavy
See suffering through the lens of eternity
Fix our eyes on what is unseen, not just what’s temporary
Anchor our identity in Christ before chasing improvement
Live today in light of forever

Whether you’re entering a new year, walking through hardship, or feeling stuck in cycles that don’t last, this message invites you to lift your eyes and live from eternal truth—not temporary pressure.

    📖 Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 4:16–18

MESSIAH HAS COME — Week 2: Peace • “Prophesied Prince of Peace”

The promise of peace didn’t begin in the manger—it began in prophecy.
In week 2 of our Advent series MESSIAH HAS COME, we focus on Peace and explore how Jesus fulfills God’s long-standing plan revealed throughout Scripture. From Genesis to the prophets, God declared His purpose before it ever came to pass—and that purpose leads us to the Prince of Peace.

Rooted in Isaiah 46:9b–10, this message reminds us that God is sovereign, faithful, and intentional. The Messiah’s coming was no accident. Every promise pointed forward to Jesus, the One who brings true and lasting peace to a broken world.

    📖 Scriptures in this message:
    Isaiah 46:9b–10, Genesis 3:15, Genesis 22:17–18, Genesis 49:10, Psalm 89:3–4, Isaiah 7:14, and Micah 5:2.

  • Messiah Has Come! (John 3:16) | Pastor John Letterman | Riverview Christian

MESSIAH HAS COME — Week 1: Hope • “Messiah Has Come!”

The Advent season begins with a breathtaking announcement: The Messiah has come! This week we open our four-part journey through Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love by focusing on the hope found in Jesus—His life, His death, and His resurrection.

    In this sermon we explore:
    I. God Loves Us
A love that never quits, never fades, never fails. (John 3:16)

II. The Barn Effect – He Gets Us
Jesus was born in a manger—God choosing humility so He could be close to us. (Luke 2:6–7)

III. Life – Hard and Scary
Jesus understands our weakness and suffering because He lived it Himself. (Hebrews 4:15)

IV. Death – That We May Live
Christ died for us long before we ever thought about choosing Him. (Romans 5:8)

    V. Raised – Eternal Life
Our hope stands on an empty tomb. Jesus is the resurrection and the life.
    (John 11:25–26)

At the heart of Advent is an invitation:
Have you received Him—His love, His grace, His rescuing, life-changing hope?

It’s there for the choosing. It’s there for the asking. It really is that simple.

✨ Join us as we rediscover the hope of Jesus—the Messiah who has come, is here, and will come again.

  • Walking In Step With The Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:25) | Pastor J.C. Letterman | Riverview Christian

Walking In Step With The Holy Spirit | Becoming WHOLE (Week 4)

In this final week of our Becoming WHOLE series, Pastor J.C. explores what it means to love and follow Jesus with our spirit—the deepest part of who we are. If the Mind, Body, and Soul shape how we think, live, and feel, then our Spirit is where we commune with God Himself. And Scripture is clear: we are called to walk in step with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:25).

The Holy Spirit doesn’t fill us simply to make us feel something—He fills us to transform us and empower us to bring hope, freedom, and healing to the world around us (Isaiah 61:1).

If you’ve ever wondered how to partner with God, hear His voice, or grow closer to Him—this sermon will guide you into a deeper, more intimate walk with the Holy Spirit.

Worship With Your Body | Becoming WHOLE (Week 2)

    📖 Mark 12:30 | 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 | Romans 12:1 | Philippians 3:20–21

How you treat your body reflects how you honor your Creator. In week two of our Becoming WHOLE series, Pastor J.C. teaches that loving God isn’t just about your heart or your mind—it’s about your whole self.

In this message, “Worship With Your Body,” we explore what it means to love and follow Jesus with our strength—our physical bodies. From rest and nutrition to discipline and boundaries, this sermon challenges us to see our bodies not as our own, but as temples of the Holy Spirit.

You were created on purpose and for a purpose—to glorify God in everything you do, including how you eat, move, work, and rest.

    🙌 Learn how to:
View your body as a temple, not a tool for pleasure or profit
Break free from appetites that control your worship
Practice discipline as an act of love, not legalism
Offer your body to God as a living sacrifice
Live today in light of your future resurrection
This is more than a health talk—it’s a call to whole-life worship.
