The Director of Tourism and Conventions here in Monaco Guy Antognelli has announced that results have shown that the hotel occupancy rate for 2022 is up compared to 2021 but still down compared to 2019. Speaking at the Fairmont Hotel and in the presence of the Monaco’s Minister of State Antognelli said that the positive assessment of the sector suggests good prospects for the months to come, in particular with a sharp increase in revenue per room.

During his presentation, the Director of Tourism also revealed that the representation of certain tourists such as those from France, Israel, Mexico, Qatar and Kuwait were up compared to 2019. On the other hand, Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, China, Japan and Italy are down sharply, due to the international context or national political instability.

Concerning business tourism in the Principality, Guy Antognelli announced that Monaco would be taking full advantage of the trend of event organizers who favour a return to face-to-face meetings for congresses and business meetings, which should benefit the Grimaldi Forum and the hotels of the Principality.

An exhibition of the works of Artist George Condo has started at the New National Museum of Monaco. Entitled “Humanoids” which in his own words the artist describes as “not a science fiction monster, but a form of representation that uses traditional means to bring out the inner emotions onto the surface of a person”. Condo moved modern painting towards the “almost human”. He tackled the problem at its source: he seized Cubism, reversed its intentions and humanised it. He became the champion of “psychological Cubism”. The exhibition traces the continuity of a profuse body of work that ranges from “space beings” to a Who’s Who. Featuring specially produced paintings, the exhibition offers a glimpse of the artist’s process of invention of humanoids.
