The game of blind chess made it’s debut at the 2023 IBSA World Games in Birmingham and RNIB Connect Radio’s Allan Russell spoke to the IBSA Chair of Chess, Sorin Lapadatu after the tournaments medals were awarded.

The 2023 IBSA World Games were held in Birmingham and, as with all elite athlete events, anti doping officials are in attendance.

As well as elite athletes competing at the IBSA World Games in Birmingham, there’s also a chance for the public to have a go at some of the sports.

Another Gold medal for Argentina at the IBSA World Blind Games 2023 as their men’s team win their 3rd gold at Blind Football to add to the one their women’s team won earlier in the games.

It was a close thought match against China as it went down to penalties and RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey was there on the pitch as the Argentina Team celebrated  and managed to chat with Matias Olivera from the triumphant Argentina men’s blind football team.

Another VI Archery gold for Great Britain as blind veteran and wheelchair user Terry Piper wins gold in the Open Archery competition.

Blind and partially sighted Judoka from across the globe met at the IBSA World Games in Birmingham.
