Also known as Amber and Traci can’t stop talking about New Spring.  After watching the Wheel of Time tv series official trailer we have even more love for the petite, yet mighty, prequel to the series.  But this episode is about why we think other people would find the series enjoyable, why we keep coming back to it over and over again, how we have been talking about it together for over a year and it still gets us in the feels every time.  We know it’s a big investment of time and emotional energy, but it is so very worth it.

There was no way we were going to let this time of year pass us by and NOT use our super fun spooky season intro again.  This year we decided on bubbles of evil, and to get the full effect we had to go bring in the entire series.  If you are not all the way through the books, this episode will either spoil you or make no sense.  Either way, your choice, as always.

For those of you listening in today, it’s all about the putrescence that is seeping loose into the Wheel of Time world as the Seals to the Dark One’s Prison become ever more fragile.  What forms of nightmare do they take, and are they really as scary as Jordan intended them to be?  It’s always a laughing matter on the Road to Tar Valon.

The true hunt for the Horn of Valere begins and the searchers depart from Fal Dara following an assasination attempt on the Amyrlin.  Urgency drives them to follow the Darkfriends and Shadowspawn carrying away Mat’s dagger and the Horn, leaving behind them a trail of “murder and worse.”  Bayle Domon is being pulled into a plot he never thought would touch him and he races towards Toman Head in the hopes of escaping his pursuers. Egwene and Nyneave set out along the road to Tar Valon, with lessons in the Power along the route.  Egwene is a rosebud opening to the soft light of saidar, while Nyneave’s thorny side shows up in the form of fire.

After a little over a year of recording we decided it was time.  The presentation of men and women given to us by Robert Jordan in the Wheel of Time is worthy of being addressed.  Gender and the way we perceive it in Western society is experiencing a much needed awakening to a more nuanced world.  Speaking about our experiences has value, connecting it to the Wheel of Time and seeing the world through that lense gives a wider perspective on how the world is and how others may imagine it.
