This is a fun one, because Lan and Moiraine finally cross paths on the way to Chachin. Chapter 19 is from Moiraine’s point of view and chapter 20 is from Lan’s. It was a spectacularly fun read and we had a great time chatting it over. We split the book up into spoiler free at the beginning and after the ad we dive into theories which frequently cross over into spoiler land.
We are rapidly coming to the end of New Spring! Next week we continue our journey to Chachin and we get a perspective from Lan and Moiraine and the culture clash that has them under each other’s skin. After facing bandits and disappointment on the road, the party finally reaches their destination and Lan looks to get as far away from Moiraine as he can, but he knows he only has one destination; a dangerous haven of sorts that would potentially keep Moiraine away from him physically, even if she kept creeping into his thoughts.

Chapters 17 and 18 brings us back to a Moiraine POV. She’s landed in the Borderlands after her flight from Tar Valon and has begun her personal search for the Dragon Reborn. Surprise encounters find Moiraine while she stays in Canluum.

There’s a short snippet we took from that recording that is up as a minisode where we discuss the recent audio trailer WoT on Prime that was released recently. We would love for you to check that out, too, but if you miss it, it will still be part of next week’s full episode.

Full disclosure, there are some spoilers for the series in this recording. This past Sunday, we absolutely had to disucss the new audio teaser trailer that was recently released. We’re publishing this snippet now because we record a week ahead of time and didn't want to wait to share our opinions and reactions to what we heard and saw.

Editor’s Note:
Thank you for listening! I realized during the editing that we mentioned quite a few WoT content creators and I figured I would insert links here for anyone who wants to get to it quick and easy.

I think there was also a mention of Josh from the Black Tower Podcast.
And the Dusty Wheel has been covering this topic as well.
Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone and if I did, let me know and I’ll update things as needed. Best wishes,
Traci
It’s a Road to Tar Valon first: we have a guest joining us! We are quite excited to announce that Rob of Malkier Talks joined us for a discussion about the Shadowspawn. The three of us had a lot of fun discussing our favorite shadowspawn, the best moments we found in the books, how they might be done in the shows, and theorized over things like whether or not Shadowspan have souls (thanks, Zuul!). Consider it our spooky, or just downright disturbing, yet hilarious, Halloween treat for you.

We agree, these are the best two chapters of New Spring so far. Lan and Bukama are back in the Borderlands and everyone’s on edge. We had a fantastic time discussing our appreciation of how amazingly well written these two chapters are and where they are taking us. This episode is broken up into spoiler free in the first half, and the second half we theorize and discuss the importance of certain things like the Hadori and Lan’s gold signet ring.
Next week’s episode is a little something different for us. We have a guest joining us! We are quite excited to announce that Rob of Malkier Talks will be joining us for a discussion about the Shadowspawn. The three of us had a lot of fun discussing our favorite shadowspawn, the best moments we found in the books, and theorized over things like whether or not Shadowspan have souls (thanks, Zuul!).

We did it again. As much as we try to be brief when chatting over these chapters we just get lost in the Wheel of Time world and end up talking for hours. We've trimmed it down, but there was just so much to still cover in those last four chapters that trimming this down too far felt a bit too challenging. That said, we talk about Black Ajah, the life-span issues of an Aes Sedai queen, the sad way the Tower handles failure, and many other things that span across the full series.
We also had a really fun interaction around a question we posed on Twitter about who has read New Spring, why or why not, and we just had to share a handful of the replies we received. So much fun! We love every interaction we get to have with fellow WoT fans.
Next week we are back to covering just two chapters at a time and we have arrived in the Borderlands with Lan and Bukama! These chapters were so beautifully written and so lively that it almost felt like reading a book from an entirely different series. There are some saucy bar maids and deadly fighting taking place, but what else would you expect from the most dangerous place to live in the Westlands? Make sure to join us!

We have added one more avenue of communication with our new Discord server! Send us an email or message Amber on IG or Twitter for the link. We will have it added to our social media pages as soon as we can. We received a ton of help from Cheyenne Sedai from the Weaves of the Wheel community. Seriously could not have done this without her help. Thank you so much!
So until next week,

Spoiler free recap! We realized that maybe four chapters per episode was a bit much so we split up what we wanted to talk about into two episodes; this one being spoiler free and next week being more full of spoilers and theories. Although, we did take a few minutes at the start of the episode to do a little theorizing around the direction the show might take when it comes to portraying Aes Sedai, but then it was back to the recap. This week it’s chapters 11 - 14 and ooh, boy, it’s starting to get good!
We’re keeping things short and sweet this week, so if you want to reach out to us with any questions on our show, it’s all down below.

We were maybe a little extra chatty this past episode, when you’re on a roll and talking about something you love...well, time flies! We hope you enjoy this extra long episode. We were feeling ambitious and possibly took on a bit too much but we are finding our stride and encourage you to take breaks as you need them while listening. We do have this split into a beginning portion that is spoiler free and we will announce when the spoiler section is about to begin.
Before we launched into our recap this week we wanted to give some of our time to discuss the recent anniversary of Robert Jordan’s death and the impact he’s had on millions of lives. A big thank you to Lauren at Unraveling the Pattern on YouTube for letting us use a sound clip from one of his amazing videos to really concisely sum up the truly epic series that has become Jordan’s legacy.
Chapters 7 & 8 lead us through more of Siuan’s and Moiraine’s path to earning the much coveted shawl of an Aes Sedai and chapters 9 & 10 have us going through the test to become an Aes Sedai for the first time in the series. It’s both terrifying and delightful.
We wrap up this episode with some of our own theories as to why things are happening the way they are and where some of these things lead us to later in the series. If you haven’t read the full series, this is where we should really part ways. We wouldn’t want to ruin anything for you!
This episode was recorded a week ahead of schedule so there is a correction to be made. Traci’s Twitter handle has been changed to @MistressLaras and she’s happily chatting about books and food, among other things, with some truly amazing people. WoT community, you’re the best!
