This is not the American definition of a four-day work week, which usually is defined as four 10 hour days. Rather, there is a global effort to bring the four eight hour day week to the mainstream. Spearheaded by 4 Day Week Global, a non-profit coalition, the effort is to encourage companies worldwide to adopt a 32-hour workweek with no cut in pay. In America, an amended Fair Labor Standards Act codified the 40-hour workweek with overtime pay for hours worked beyond that - some 82 years ago!
