In the third episode of Breaking Barriers, I was joined by Bryn White. White is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of the women's volleyball team at Piedmont University, majoring in Political Science and Psychology. White has experienced different cultural shocks, from attending a private school, with the majority of the class population being white, to then moving to a public school with more diversity. 

On episode three of this 12-week journey, Leandro Forero joins host Chris Donsereaux to expand on his journey Piedmont University. Forero also talks about his dream school and how Piedmont has impactedhis life. 

In episode 5 of Fandomonium, Matt breaks down the numbers on the ties sports fans have to the business side of the sports industry. His guest, Guido D'ELia, is a current consultant at gconsults (a collegiate sports marketing and communications consultancy), as well as a former instructor and Director of Branding and Communications at Penn State University and the Co-founder and senior strategist of Mind Over Media. D'Elia is known for being one of the key pieces to starting the White Out Game tradition at Penn State. In this episode, they'll be answering why sports teams and leagues market and advertise to fans, as well as how fans act as a cohesive unit and develop fan culture. Victoria Martin joined me in the second episode of Breaking Barriers. Martin is a former women's golf team member at Piedmont University. She is a native of Perry, Georgia, and Martin started taking golf a little more seriously in her junior year of high school. Although a few other black girls were on Martin's high school team, Martin came into Piedmont being the only one in her first year. 

In the first episode of Breaking Barriers, I was joined by Jia Weathersby. Weathersby is a Junior volleyball player majoring in Marketing. She is a native of Athens, Tennessee, and started playing volleyball a little later than others. In the first episode, Weathersby discusses her process of coming onto the Piedmont women's volleyball team, being one of the two black girls on the team. Weathersby also talks about a few struggles she's had in high school playing club volleyball, including being judged due to her skin color. 

On episode two of this 12-week journey Kai Doyle joins host Chris Donsereaux to talk about her journey to Piedmont University. Tune in to find out what her dream school was before she came to Piedmont, as well as what some of her plans are after leaving the University.

In this 2nd episode, I got the chance to sit down with sophomore Will Isley and talk about how sports help us physically and emotionally. Will said he was able to cope with Covid with one sport we may not have thought of. Make sure to give it a listen as you don't want to miss this weeks episode. 

In Episode 4 of Fandomonium, Matt brings on Gel Lux to talk about fan bases, their embodiment, fan violence, and sports rivalries. Gel is a Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Braves superfan. In this episode, they'll discuss Lux's beloved Bills Mafia, as well as why sports rivalries matter and what it does for fan intensity.
