I wasn't planning on making a preview for this episode, but while editing, I felt the strong urge of making a short video in order to put this out there as soon as possible. I talk about my attitude towards racism while growing up and how my view fundamentally changed recently after gaining some new insights.
I read a few passages of "What Does it Mean to be White" by Robin DiAngelo (2016) to give listeners an idea of the kinds of information I was exposed to that changed my mind.
The objectification of Asian women, the emasculation of Asian men and the disregard of Asian youth.
Let's be clear. Asian Americans experience racism. Everyday. And we should not be excluded from the conversation.
