"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." ~ I've heard and used this quote a million times, but still fall victim to it on a continuous basis.  

Whether it's social media, fighting with my wife, or addictions I've struggled with, I've put myself through the ringer several times. I think a lot of us have.

So, how can you break the cycle?

I HATE DOING DISHES. They never stop!!!

Most of our life consists of mundane moments...and sleeping. The mundane moments are the ones we can normally brush over when talking about the events of our day. BUT, the mundane moments are THE moments when you are in control of mastering who you are and who you want to be. 

The mundane moments are a chance to bring gratitude into your life. Doing the dishes is that time for me right now. Having a 3 year old sick kid is also a chance to master the mundane moments. Just listen and let me explain.

I've never been a "morning person". If someone was to describe my demeanor in the "AM" it would be moody, at best. But, I was listening to Tim Ferriss's podcast (find it!) with Tony Robbins one day and in 5 minutes Tony changed all of that. He gave an amazing piece of wisdom that taught me how to be grateful every damn day when I woke up. That was 3 years ago, and I still use it today. Hopefully it helps you too. Enjoy!

One of my favorite books is 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olson. In the book, there is a great story about a young Steve Martin. Steve didn't stand out in the early days. It took him years to learn his craft and become a master. It's a great example of talent only getting you so far. In most cases, experience will always beat talent. So, even if you have talent you still have to put the work in to be the best.
