Faith’s victory: 1 John 5: 1-5

1. The Introduction: As a Christian do we want victory in this life?

1.1 Big Idea: I want to encourage us with two lovely facts from 1 John ch5 vv1-5 to help us to have this victory that leads to eternal life (1-5)

2. The first lovely fact is: obeying God’s Word (1-3)

3. The second lovely fact is: overcoming the world (4-5)

4. Conclusion: the exhortation: Will we allow these two lovely facts that we have looked at form 1 John ch5 vv1-5 help us to have this victory that leads to eternal life (1-5)

Reflection: As a Christian do you want victory in this life? Will you obey God’s Word to have this victory that leads to eternal life? Will you overcome this world to have this victory that leads to eternal life? God’s love P4: 1 John 4: 12-21

1. The Introduction: As a Christian when we think of God’s love; what comes to our mind?

1.1 Big Idea: Look at God’s love in God’s children from 1 John ch4 vv12-21 to see two truths to encourage us to embrace God’s love: not just have it in our head but also have it in our hands (12-21)

2. The first truth is: loving one another shows that God lives in us (12-16)

3. The second truth is: loving one another gives us confidence on the day of judgement (17-21)

4. Conclusion: the exhortation: Now that we have looked at God’s love in God’s children from 1 John 4: 12-21 to see our two truths; to encourage us to embrace God’s love: not just have it in our head but also have it in our hands – will we (12-21)

Reflection: As a Christian when you think of God’s love what comes to your mind? Knowing that loving one another shows that God lives in you – does this motivate you to love? Knowing that loving one another gives you confidence on the day of judgment – does this motivate you to love? The resurrection: 1 Corinthians 15: 1-23

1.1 Big Idea: To look at three things from 1 Cor. ch15 vv1-19 to see how necessary the resurrection is for the Christian life (1-19)

2. The first thing to see how necessary is the resurrection for the Christian life is: our salvation depends on the resurrection (17)

4  The third thing to see how necessary is the resurrection for the Christian life is: our power depends on the resurrection (14)

5 Conclusion: the exhortation: Hopefully we have been challenged from 1 Cor. ch15 vv1-19 to see how necessary is the resurrection for the Christian life (1-19)

Do you believe that your salvation; your suffering; and your power; depends on the resurrection?
