Crescendo’s Winter Concert, Songs of the Soul, Renaissance music with Contemporary-Modern dance. The performance will feature Crescendo Vocal Ensemble with Christine Gevert leading from the Organ, and theorbo player Hideki Yamaya. Moving Arts Exchange directors Ellen Gorman and Andrea Blacklow with members of their dance company, will perform modern, original choreography, synchronized with the music. REMAINING SEASON 2017-18 CONCERTS

The Hotchkiss Dramatic Association is pleased to present William  The production will be directed by Parker Reed, instructor in English and theatre at The Hotchkiss School. Cymbeline continues this season’s theme of “Dreams & Nightmares”: written late in his career, this complex tragi-comedy explores love and loyalty through fantastic characters and one of Shakespeare’s most amusing plots.

All performances take place in Walker Auditorium. Tickets are $10; $5 for students and seniors. Cash or check is accepted and patrons may buy tickets at the door; no reservations are necessary. The Sunday matinee performance will benefit True Colors in Hartford, CT, an organization providing education, support and advocacy for LGBTQQ youth.

Founded in 1891, The Hotchkiss School is a coeducational boarding school, located at 11 Interlaken Road in Lakeville, Connecticut. Here is the Trescott Hill/Route 44 intersection in Canaan, Route 63 where it meets Route 7 in Falls Village and the crosswalk at Salisbury School on Route 44. Those locations are among the sites of traffic accidents that cause concern for town leaders.

Members of the state’s Department of Transportation and Lt. William Baldwin, commander of the State Police at Troop B in Canaan, listened as first selectmen from area towns told about fatalities and near-misses at several locations and hoped they could work out some ways to address them.

The selectmen made it clear they had high praise for the DOT and the help they’ve received during various situations.

The meeting was called by state Rep. Brian Ohler, R-Canaan, to get a regional perspective on traffic safety. He suggested leaders go back to their towns to speak to individuals about how to mitigate some of the problems for another regional meeting in March.

Come cheer on the Junior Jumpers on the 20 and 30 meter hills. Their competition begins at 9am.

Our big jump competitors begin practicing at 11am and competition begins at 1pm.

Enjoy the warming bonfires around the grounds, Lagunitas beer and great food at the Cook Shack!

Closing our Jumpfest weekend are the Junior National Hopefuls ski-jumping off our big hill.
