🔥 ROCK BOTTOM REVIVAL — EPISODE 19 🔥
RECOVERING AS A FAMILY: Building a Healthier Tomorrow Together
Recovery Month continues and so does our conversation about something that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough:
What does recovery look like for the whole family?
In Episodes 17 and 18, we dug into both sides of addiction in the family — the perspective of the person struggling with addiction and the perspective of the people who love them. We talked about the hurt, fear, guilt, resentment, boundaries and the reality that recovery doesn’t automatically erase what happened.
For Episode 19, we’re taking the next step.
Now that we understand more about what everyone has been carrying… how do we actually move forward?
Bethany and Tammy are bringing their different lived perspectives back to the table as we talk about what it takes to create healthier family relationships after addiction has changed the family dynamic.
We’re getting into boundaries, rebuilding trust, communication, support, accountability and breaking unhealthy or generational patterns — but we’re also talking about something just as important:
You don’t have to recreate the family you had before addiction. You can build something healthier than what existed before.
Recovery doesn’t mean forgetting the past.
Healing doesn’t mean pretending nobody got hurt.
Forgiveness doesn’t automatically mean trust.
And boundaries don’t mean you stopped loving someone.
Sometimes family recovery means learning an entirely new way to love each other.
