When we think about the 4th of July, we often describe patriotic feelings and happenings.  Picnics, parades, fireworks, family, and friends.  What a great time!  But, in this show, Merrill and Linda discuss what patriotism truly is and how to teach it to your kids.  

Patriotism is about thanks and gratitude for what you received from those that came before you. In the history of our country, we have had times of difficulty and events that we are not proud of.  But, there are plenty of other times that we look back with great appreciation for what others have given us.  

History judges a generation by how well they left the nation for the generation to come.  Did they leave a bigger mess to clean up or did they leave them something strong to allow them to continue to build?  As parents, what are you teaching your kids about patriotism, especially in these days?
