Jaime Lopes, my homegirl, soul sister, mama sidekick, of whom I met over the last 4-5 years. She comes from love and light always and it’s a guarantee we will always laugh when we get together.  She reminds me to keep being myself even when we see/feel negativity around us. One thing that makes us deeply bond is the similarities in our husbands, who challenge us, deeply.

They push us to be better people.  It is with this challenge that we question all that we know about ourselves, and our choice to trek this journey with these men we love so much.

Ray and I sit down for a fascinating discussion with his always fabulous storytelling and words of wisdom.

We discuss the vicious injuries fear as an engine used illusion and how we agree there aren’t many things to be feared in life.

Nora sits down for a humorous discussion with she and her husband’s long time homey in the skateboard family, Geoff T.  He has always been a positive sense of light and laughter in her family’s life; she knows she can always rely on having a great time when they get together.  No matter what his life situation including going to jail for his shenanigan acts,  he is always in high spirits.

Due to current unfortunate circumstances in his personal relationship, that have turned his life upside down, he is finding ways to empower himself aside from drinking or drugs.

We discuss:

-The skateboarder mentality and how I feel it can be applied to everyday living.

As he validates, “Skating is a serious of failures…you’re going to fail, and you’re going to get hurt.”

He also states:  “With skating I could be my own separate independent person, without a coach. It’s invigorating…”

He is known for the bands Minor Threat, The Teen Idles, and later down the road a band more in the alternative mainstream, Fugazi. He is also Co-Founder of Dischord Records located in Washington DC.Nora and Ian, (Minor Threat is one of Nora’s fav bands growing up) sit down for an entertaining phone discussion on:
