Don Anderson and Timothy Gikas, hosts of the Pod, are pleased to introduce Robert McConnell, an angling guidebook author and passionate fly angler based in Houston. McConnell's extensive knowledge and expertise in the region's streams, lakes, and rivers have made him a recognized authority. Having explored and documented over 50 regional watersheds, his experience is unparalleled.

Listeners will find this podcast episode particularly informative and enlightening. McConnell's second and soon-to-be-released book (and the subject of this podcast) is FLY FISHING HOUSTON & SOUTHEASTERN TEXAS, published by Imbrifex Books*.

From the book's initial information survey and research, Robert chose 38 wades on 12 different streams to create detailed on-the-water descriptions, including access points, recommended techniques, and flies for fishing Houston Texas and eastward. This book will become a must-own reference manual for fly fishing in South-East Texas.

Book highlights include:

• 38 detailed on-the-water descriptions of "wades" located on 12 unique streams and waterways
• Descriptions of access points for paddles in local lakes
• Suggestions for creating personalized fly boxes for southeastern Texas.
• More than 300 color photographs, including close-ups of the critical sport fish available
• QR codes supplying GPS coordinates for all of the wade locations
• Suggestions for the best gear to get started fly fishing
• Local angler-friendly breweries and fly shops
• Background about local historical events
• Insider tips for sneaking up on fish

Mr. McConnell's first book guides anglers through the Sam Houston National Forest and is titled FLY FISHING IN THE SAM. It is available through the book's website https://www.flyfishingthesam.com/.

* FLY FISHING HOUSTON & SOUTHEASTERN TEXAS, published by Imbrifex Books, will be released in early February 2023 and available through quality book retailers like Amazon, Barns & Noble, and many Fly Fishing Shops.
