Beginning with the cast of characters and the opening prologue which establishes the setting in Verona and introduces the themes of ancient family hatred and star-crossed lovers. The scenes detail the escalating violence between the Montagues and Capulets, including the fatal duel where Tybalt kills Mercutio, leading to Romeo killing Tybalt and subsequently being banished by the Prince.
