Denji is robbed of a normal teenage life, left with nothing but his deadbeat father's overwhelming debt. His only companion is his pet, the chainsaw devil Pochita, with whom he slays devils for money that inevitably ends up in the yakuza's pockets. All Denji can do is dream of a good, simple life: one with delicious food and a beautiful girlfriend by his side. But an act of greedy betrayal by the yakuza leads to Denji's brutal, untimely death, crushing all hope of him ever achieving happiness. Remarkably, an old contract allows Pochita to merge with the deceased Denji and bestow devil powers on him, changing him into a hybrid able to transform his body parts into chainsaws. Because Denji's new abilities pose a significant risk to society, the Public Safety Bureau's elite devil hunter Makima takes him in, letting him live as long as he obeys her command. Guided by the promise of a content life alongside an attractive woman, Denji devotes everything and fights with all his might to make his naive dreams a reality.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 officially began its broadcast on January 8th, 2026, following years of immense anticipation from the global anime community. Fans finally see the long-awaited return of Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro as they navigate a Japan transformed into a supernatural battleground.

Gege Akutami's world expands rapidly during this season, introducing a diverse cast of sorcerers with increasingly bizarre and lethal abilities. Viewers encounter legendary figures from history alongside modern sorcerers, each competing for points in Kenjaku's deadly tournament as Studio MAPPA continues to deliver the top-tier animation quality that defines the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise.

A new report addressed to the U.S. government has highlighted the growing threat of anime and manga piracy, with the industry's top illegal streaming sites coming into the crosshairs of international piracy watchdogs.

According to a recent report by the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), anime piracy sites consistently ranked among the top illegal platforms in countries including China, South Africa, India and Vietnam.

The IIPA particularly highlighted the situation in India, noting that of the top 25 piracy sites currently available in the country, 10 are dedicated specifically to anime streaming, while another seven focus on manga. This data indicates that 40% of the most-visited illegal platforms in one of the world's largest digital markets are now centered on anime.

Both Disney+ and the Disney-owned Hulu streaming service have now announced their official programming slates for February 2026. Per Hulu Press, several highly anticipated anime works are scheduled to release new English dubs between Feb. 4–27. These series include Spy x Family, My Hero Academia: Final Season, Pretty Cure and One Piece. Disney+ will also see the addition of two new titles, including a spinoff of the popular French-Japanese anime series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Crunchyroll has recently revealed an overview of upcoming English-dubbed anime for the Winter 2026 season. In the list, Frieren Season 2 has been included, which means the series is definitely receiving an English dub within January to March 2026. Additionally, Season 1 of Frieren received its English dub after two weeks of the anime’s Japanese debut. If this new season were to follow the same pattern, then the Frieren Season 2 English dub is expected to be released January 30, 2026.

With an explosive fourth episode featuring Maki Zen'in, Jujutsu Kaisen's third season has been delivering on the brutality it has come to be known for as one of the Shonen Dark Trio. With the pieces of Kenjaku's Culling Game falling into place across Japan, jujutsu sorcerers old and newly created will face off against each other in battles meant to weed out the weak.As the protagonists separate to find Megumi Fushiguro's sister, participate in the Culling Game, and rally allies to their cause to free Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm, each encounter promises to reveal new characters with cursed techniques and domain expansions unlike anime fans have seen before. The chaos that is Jujutsu Kaisen keeps ramping up with each new episode, which means anime fans won't want to miss a single second.

Jujutsu Kaisen was primed for a massive comeback when it returned for its third season earlier this January, and now that its first four episodes have aired, it's clear that Gege Akutami's beloved franchise has set a new bar for the shonen anime genre. Maki Zenin has pushed JJK into bloody new territory, putting the entire anime world on notice in the process.

Another year has passed, and it's time once again for the Japan Academy Film Prize—one of the most prestigious awards in the Japanese film calendar—to crown the Best Animated Film. Winners for each category are chosen from those picked for an Award for Excellence, a kind of nomination process.

The complete list of the Award for Excellence for the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Animation Film includes:

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle

100 Meters

Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise

Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback

The full award is really anyone's game this year, as Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen TrainOpens in a new tab won the award in 2020, and Look Back, based on another manga written by Chainsaw ManOpens in a new tab creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, won last year. Of course, 100 Meters has been praised for its animation, and Detective ConanOpens in a new tab is a continuing cultural icon of the Japanese entertainment landscape, having been nominated many times before without winning.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is officially underway, and the series has already settled back into its quiet, reflective rhythm. Episode 1 opened with a quiet reset that still found room for danger and character growth. It focused less on spectacle and more on trust, companionship, and the long road still ahead for Frieren, Fern and Stark. As always, the story balanced gentle humor with emotional weight, reminding viewers why the series stands apart from most modern fantasy anime.

Episode 1 also shows how far the group has come as a team. Frieren puts Stark in the lead when magic is unusable, and her confidence in him becomes the emotional backbone of the premiere. With the season’s tone now firmly established, attention naturally turns to what comes next. With the journey north continuing by road, Episode 2 should build on that momentum, pushing the trio closer to the Northern Plateau while testing what being a party really means.
