After much back-and-forth from fans and critics, James Gunn’s Superman has been proven to be an unapologetic success. Not only has the film been a massive hit with fans and critics alike, but with an opening weekend box office of approximately $220 million, it’s already one of the most successful movies of 2025 and one of the most successful Superman movies, in general.
Superman is already a massive success, but that’s not the case everywhere. While Superman is doing amazing in the domestic market, it’s doing considerably worse in the international market, with Superman only opening to about $95 million internationally and projected to do worse in the following weeks. Many reasons can explain Superman's poor performance overseas, but for Japan, specifically, Superman might be failing because it’s in direct competition with the biggest anime movie of the year.

As big as Squid Game season 3 is, it’s already losing out to one of Netflix’s biggest summer anime. After a historic run and a truly breakout success, Squid Game has finally released its third and final season, and as divisive as it might have been, that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the biggest hits in the history of Netflix.
Squid Game season 3 is an undeniable hit, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be surpassed. No popular show or movie stays at the top forever, and that can already be seen with Squid Game, as according to Netflix’s official weekly report, Dandadan has officially surpassed Squid Game season 3 to be the #1 show in Japan. Dandadan is even currently the #4 foreign language show in the world, so if anything has a chance to permanently dethrone Squid Game season 3, it’s Dandadan season 2.

Karl Urban is playing Johnny Cage in the upcoming movie Mortal Kombat 2, and the character has starred in a fake action movie trailer ahead of the actual trailer for the video game adaptation. Although Johnny Cage wasn't in the first film, Karl Urban's character is set to play a major role in Mortal Kombat 2, as is proven by this fake piece of action movie promotional material.
The trailer is for a fake in-universe movie titled Uncaged Fury, which is a corny action film starring Johnny Cage. The teaser shows Cage fighting several goons in a warehouse, with an epic voiceover explaining that Cage is seeking revenge after the criminals "pissed him off" and "f*cked with his shades."
Cage manages to easily knock out the goons before a bazooka is fired at him, with him leaping over the missile. The teaser also shows off some of Cage's past in-universe movies, with it naming fake New Line Cinema films Cool Hand Cage, Hard to Cage, and Rebel Without a Cage.

Demon Slayer has been setting some impressive records of late, and the latest manga sales reports from Shonen Jump are keeping that streak going. Now, Demon Slayer has officially blown Bleach out of the water, securing it a spot as the fourth-most top-selling manga of all time.
Demon Slayer's latest sales rankings place the hit series at 220,000,000 volumes sold, surpassing Bleach and several other series in the process. What's impressive about this is that Demon Slayer's manga only began in 2016, while many of the series it surpassed were long-runners from years ago, such as Slam Dunk and Kochikame.
