Chapter President Jennifer Nitzky and I sat down for a conversation with M. Paul Friedberg at his house in Manhattan. It was just announced that Paul will receive the ASLA Medal this year. He has created spaces across the world, including Minneapolis's Peavey Plaza, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places, and Pershing Park in Washington D.C. In our next episode, we will discuss the current situation with Pershing Park, which is in a precarious situation.
In this, the first part of the conversation, we talked about his background, becoming a landscape architect, how he saw cities change before his eyes, and some of his early work.
