Pastor Vern Hettinga brought us a message from Jeremiah 1:1-12. Life isn't fair, but from God's perspective a good life isn't necessarily an easy one. God wishes to strengthen us through difficult times so that we are prepared for future struggles. 

In Pastor Austin's last sermon for Advent he pulls from various texts within the Bible to focus on King Harod. Today, King Herod and his empire are ruins, while Christian churches are in nearly every city and town in every country across the world. Today, King Herod’s capital city is the capital of Christianity. Today, King Herod’s speeches are forgotten, while Jesus’ words have been translated into over 1200 languages. Today, King Herod is a forgettable footnote in the unforgettable story of Jesus.

This is the 3rd message in Pastor Austin's Advent series, Unforgettable Christmas.  The focus of this message is on the passage from Matthew 2:1-12. They were as pagan as pagan could get, yet the Magi understood something right off the bat that many people today never understand. They understood that Christmas is about worship.

Pastor Austin continues his Advent series with the Unforgettable Cousin Once Removed pulling from Luke 1:5-20.  When God speaks into your life, it’s uncommon that he will rise above the volume of the world around you. Or even the volume of your own inner voice. God still speaks quietly because here’s the thing about listening to a whisper. If you want to hear someone whisper, you have to be really, really close. God whispers to draw us close. 

This episode is the beginning of our Advent series Unforgettable Christmas. In this series Pastor Austin will explore some of the lesser noticed characters of the Christmas story.  

In Advent and Christmas, we celebrate the incarnation – that God took on flesh and lived among us. God was no longer located solely in the temple – Christmas means God has gone mobile. He has left the sacred space of the temple to dwell in the hearts of every person embracing God’s final sacrifice for sin.
