Micro-habits, routines, and systems are generally one of the best ways to become a truly disciplined person and maximise your ability to get things done. However, Jordan also explains here that much of it is also down to genetics, as well as your personality type.
We need valuable goals. We need good habits. We need to articulate systems. And we need a reward.
What could you improve right now in your discipline to make you more productive each day, even if it’s just 1%.
The Beast of Burden. A slave to a tyrant? They don’t sound too good, do they? Jordan explains the story in Pinnochio here to help explain this idea further of not becoming a puppet to a tyrant. It’s an interesting take on the story and worth listening to twice to get the full effect.
This is a very interesting idea. We literally rise to the occasion. We defeat the fear by realising we are bigger and stronger than we think we are. There is an idea that is very similar which talks about managing your impulse through not putting yourself in those positions. Successful people are not that different from regular people, they just decide either to not put themselves in a position where they may give in to their impulses, thus meaning that they build a stronger inner dialogue to say No. Or, on the contrary, they practice strengthening their impulsive inner voice and their response by actually facing these situations and saying No on purpose. Each person is different. Choose. Method and stick to it. But realise you are stronger than you think.
Depression is something many people will experience at some time in their life. Jordan talks us through some advice in dealing with that.
