RPS Presents

RPS caught up with Declan and Amy from everyone’s favourite Australian rock explosion, Amyl and the Sniffers at Primavera Sound LA. We talked about freaks, ambition and Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens.

In the first of our Primavera LA interviews, Ben Cardew talked to one of his favourite bands, Dry Cleaning: aka Florence Shaw, Tom Dowse, Lewis Maynard and Nick Buxton. Their new album Stumpwork is a marvellous piece of work and we talked about that, about lost tortoises and about Covid melancholy.

Johann Wald caught up with Orlando Higginbottom to talk about his new album, When The Lights Go, the liberation of self-releasing your own music, dealing with the darker aspects of the industry and the creative benefits of the L.A. solitude.

Today on Radio Primavera Sound we welcome Guy Chadwick, the singer, songwriting and outright leader of the classic English guitar group The House of Love. We talk about the forthcoming 8-CD box set coming out at the end of this month, Burn Down the World, with all the band’s recordings for Fontana; the band’s new album, A State of Grace; lost songs, major labels and U2-level success.

On this joint interview conducted by Edu Pou of Viva La Numeración and Johann Wald from TWR, the boys sat down with the Almighty Steve Albini to ask him why Shellac never used to play festivals until the right one came along, how younger bands can make the most out of playing without proper treatment from promoters, why rock will never die (but you will), and what bands he's been listening to lately, among other things.
