April 29, 2011A Life Less Ordinary 29th April 2011Programme 13: Terry O'Brien has three times been Mayor of Tralee and currently Deputy Mayor and a local councillor for Tralee Town Council and Kerry County Council. Terry sustained a serious spinal injury as a result of a diving accident in the U.S. in 1989 and uses a wheelchair. He is married to Teresa and they have four-year-old twins, Millie and Mark. His story is featured in the book Extraordinary Lives, which celebrates 50 years of the Irish Wheelchair Association. The book is written and edited by Joanna Marsden. There's a wonderful photograph of Terry's children hitching a ride on his wheelchair on the contents page.
