This week we are going to be looking at and discussing the Greatness of God. We will look at both descriptions of His greatness and how we are to approach His greatness. Today we focus on Luke 9:42-43.

From our previous studies, we know that God has authority over ALL. This includes unclean spirits (demons). We see this clearly played out in this passage as Jesus effortlessly casts the demon out and heals the boy. God’s great authority gave Jesus the power to execute this task. If you jump back to verse 40 you’ll see that the father of this boy first asked the disciples to cast the demon out “...but they could not.” Why? Because they don’t have the same authority that Jesus (God) has. It was Jesus who was finally able to cast the demon out because of His great power.

In the New Living Translation, it says that “...awe gripped the people…” May we be gripped in awe (praise) at the Greatness of God.
