In this, a technically persnickety episode, Heather and Jen honor the World Health Organization’s World Mental Health Day. Reaching out to the Podcast Facebook Group, they share different strategies of keeping mental health in check. From staying off of Social Media to mixing up a workout, we are finding many coping strategies as we continue to navigate through this pandemic. About Us
Heather and Jen are a coach/athlete duo that talk about all things running during a weekly podcast. Heather has been an athlete for most of her life. She took her love of swimming and entered the triathlon world, eventually crushing Ironman. She eventually married her love of running and all things Disney and tackled a number of runDisney runs. This is where she met Jen. Jen began running during her weight loss journey half a dozen years ago. She previously only ran from base to base as a varsity softball player and loathed running. But thanks to her friends and a supportive network, she ran her first 5K. Heather and Jen met as Jen was training for her first half marathon and eventually her first full marathon thanks to Heather’s encouragement. The two are now dear friends and share a coach/athlete relationship. This friendship and love for running comes through on their podcast.

In Episode 72, we uncovered lots of strong emotions and provoked some great discussion on our Podcast Facebook Group. We thought in this episode, we would respond to some of those thoughts and feelings with more of our own, but really, we must congratulate those who went out for the Boston Marathon this month, as well as all of you who are pushing out the boundaries of your comfort zone by challenging yourself in your own way.

Have you ever heard, “Running is bad for your knees,” or “Wait, you don’t look like a runner?”
Don’t worry, we have too. Heather and Jen dive into some common running myths, and then inadvertently peel back the layers of the human psyche...not really, but we had some deep thoughts.

As we start to see races open back up and trickle back onto the calendar (believe me, they are out there), it is important to remember to keep planning out your upcoming events in a smart and safe way. While we are all missing those start lines, and want to register for all the races, having a plan for the next few years will help you stay focused.

As the world continues to open back up, runners are chomping at the bit to get back to real races. Heather and Jen talk to two runners who recently toed real start lines. They recap their experiences and detail how events and race organizers have had to change some logistics. Hopefully, we will continue to see races come back, but when they do, they will look different for a while.

In this episode we feature two runners who ran 26.2 miles...ON THEIR OWN! Heather and Jen discuss how each of them tackled a Virtual Marathon solo and their reasons for doing so. We hope you find some inspiration to keep moving, and make the choice to celebrate what you can do. While Virtual Marathons may not be for everyone, they are possible, and perhaps you might even discover something about yourself!
