It's a rowdy one this week! We're covering the high flying (metaphorically) Birdy The Mighty OVA, joined by our good friend Sara (Fearbaiting, The Wonder Yeerks, HKIPGTD). Join us for the best looking villains this side of 1996, the worst named group of actors this side of Ever, and HHHHH. And please, don't talk about Mario's yang.

Two titans meet in the field of battle for a knife-edge death-match, to the death!
This week we're joined by the wonderful hosts of The Yu Yu Hakusho (You know, the other podcast covering this 25+ year old anime!) to watch the second Yu Yu Hakusho Movie, "Yu Yu Hakusho: Poltergeist Report".
Orb generation, Reiki being stored in the balls, conspiracy theories, and more controversial topics will be discussed and examined as we realize the true meaning of non-canon movies was inside us all along.

On this week's episode, Nick, Matt, and Su rev up into their respective blue orbs and dash into the climax of the Hiei vs Bui fight (he's very fast!). Matt finally succumbs to the truth that Kuwabara is a compelling character, and Su and Matt try their hands at a cheerful speech from an awful human being. Plus, a special interview with friend of the show Brooks (@brooksasanoun), who drops down from a nearby ladder to talk about Bui's wrestling! Tune in for all this and more.

On this week’s episode, Nick, Matt, and Su question the practicality of clay armor, meet the best character this anime has to offer, explore the concept of the "swingin' twenties", and take a dip into some Japanese folklore. Join us as we launch ourselves directly into the sun Team Uraotogi arc, where nothing is what it seems!

Matt's new Kurama figurine:
Su is unfortunately still stick, so Matt and Nick have got another bonus episode for you. This week features episode 1 of Magic Knight Reyearth, and this one’s a banger! Nick makes ridiculous puns, as usual. Matt learns about the characters' names, and then proceeds to never remember a single one. Some girls become magic knights, and Reyearth is never mentioned. It’s great!

"Hello! Unfortunately I have been smote by the flu, but while I'm recovering, I've given our remaining hosts the task of checking out episode 1 of Key the Metal Idol, a somewhat lesser known 90s anime that really took me by surprise when I first found it. It's dark and uncomfortable, and nothing is what it seems, but it tells a really powerful story in an efficient package (just 15 episodes!) that really displays what 90s anime had to offer when given the chance. We'll be back with more of the Dark Tournament next week! Until then, have fun with Matt and Nick!"
