But today Pastor Eddie encourages you to let the things you do be motivated by love.

If you’ve ever taken a walk through the woods in the summer, you know that not all fruit is useful. Many plants produce berries. You can find all kinds of berries of many different colors growing on the trail. But if you’ve eaten the wrong kind of berry you know that they don’t all bring nourishment and energy. Today Pastor Eddie encourages you to bear good fruit. Whether you know it or not, you’re bearing fruit right now! Will it be useful to the kingdom, though?

Your path to Jesus might look different than another’s journey. Whether you met Jesus in your second-grade Sunday School class or in a jail cell on your fortieth birthday, the important thing is that you met Jesus. There are many different journeys to Him, but He is the only way to eternal life. Today Pastor Eddie reminds you that eternal life is serious because not all will enter into it. The choices that you make here on earth matter and have eternal consequences.

When we face challenges, we often find ourselves wishing for the days when things were easier. Whether it’s stress at work, church, or in your family, it’s easy to find yourself wanting to go back. The Israelites wanted to go back to their captors, Egypt. Here in Hebrews, the believers found themselves wanting to go back to the Old Testament rituals. Today Pastor Eddie encourages you: don’t go back. Don’t choose the good things of the past over the best things ahead.

Babies aren’t born talking in full sentences. In fact, they can’t even make any sounds that resemble talking. They have to slowly build their vocabulary. First with babbling, then with individual letter sounds, next words, and finally sentences. They have to mature in their speech, building on the first foundation of simple babbles. Living in a developed nation in the 21st century means that we don’t lack any resources it takes to learn about God. Books, podcasts, radio programs, commentaries, and even Bibles are available 24/7. We don’t lack the ability to know about God. But growing and maturing in our faith takes more than just head knowledge. Today Pastor Eddie encourages you to dig deeper into your faith and apply the knowledge that you have unlimited access to.

Staying focused takes intention. When you are in a room filled with people all talking at once, you have to work to listen to one specific person. Or when your favorite song comes on the radio, you have to choose to focus on what your spouse is saying instead. Sometimes, we choose to focus on and listen to the voices that are in the world over the voice of God. Today Pastor Eddie encourages you to tune out the world and listen to God only.
