It’s excellent what you’ve done there, and I do agree with you 100% that it shows the reason why so many people are interested in this. Because it does show an abuse of power, and somebody is actually able to harness that or show, you know, the abuse of power there, and kind of turn it around and do something good with it. I want to thank you for that — and, two, I just want to let you know that I’m shipping off to basic training in a few days, and you’re one of my inspirations. You kind of helped me to realize there’s a — I don’t want to say there’s more in life, but answer the calling. I want to say you’ve done a great job for the troops over the years, and I think you’re a great American.

RUSH: The 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall is going on right now. It’s dark over there in Germany. I have a story here from the State-Controlled Associated Press: ‘Merkel Thanks Gorbachev on Berlin Wall Anniversary.’ Now, let’s be clear about something. ‘Barack Hussein Obama. Mmm, mmm, mmm!’ was invited to go and said (imitating Obama) ‘Mmm, mmm, mmm, ain’t going! Got to bowl, gotta play golf, got a concert in the House, got a date night, gotta celebrate health care. I ain’t going. I don’t believe in freedom, anyway. That wall, we communists, we don’t celebrate our failures. Let Gorbachev handle it. Besides, I don’t want to go over there and be upstaged by Ronald Reagan.’ I have not found any reporting yet — I’m not saying she didn’t do it, but I’ve not found any reporting yet that says Merkel mentions Reagan. Now, she did back on November 4th in a speech. She said, ‘Ronald Reagan far earlier than others saw and recognized the sign of the times when standing at the Brandenburg Gate in ’87. He said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate, tear down this wall.’ This appeal to something that never will be forgotten,’ Merkel said. This appeal? So Gorbachev is over there and by the way, he’s out there making news. He’s now comparing the climate change effort here, militant environmentalism has now replaced the Cold War. And nations have to come together to solve that problem.

RUSH: The global warming crew, this is so classic. I just love it. They’re going down to Antarctica — the South Pole, for those of you in Rio Linda — and they’re gonna prove that there’s so much global warming that there isn’t any ice, or very little ice, that it’s melting. It’s a cruise. And they get stuck in the ice far, far away from their intended destination. So icebreakers are called in. The icebreakers get stuck!

There was a ChiCom icebreaker that got stuck. They needed all these fossil fuel, gigantic ships to rescue them after a week. And every news story — every one of them! Let me put it this way: Not one news story makes the connection that these are a bunch of hypocrites. Not one notes the irony. They just talk about a brave bunch of scientists needed to be rescued in Antarctica. Meanwhile, we have more record lows last year than record highs — and in Green Bay for football this Sunday? Oh-ho!

He was the president. He was in charge. It was his power that had the last say in everything.” Why doesn’t anyone ever want to blame him, and why isn’t that the simple solution for every conservative’s blanket answer?

RUSH: Well, you know, you’re getting ahead of something that I intend to come up anyway here, so let me get started on the transition. I want to go back, if you remember not long ago I played a sound bite from Michael Mukasey, former Judge Mukasey. He was attorney general for a while under George W. Bush.

RUSH: There’s a former congressman from Virginia. His name is Jim Moran, and he’s a locoweed. Did you hear what he said about Northam? He said Northam has been “ambushed by a yearbook photo.” Ambushed by a yearbook photo! I think the story going around is that somebody who was just repulsed and appalled… Somebody who went to med school with Northam was appalled at what he had had to say about late-term abortion, day-of-birth abortion, postbirth abortion, and leaked all of this blackface photo and yearbook stuff.

CALLER: Yeah. Shelley from Charlottesville, Virginia. I’m just wondering, Rush. I’ve been around for, oh, about five or six decades. I’ve seen a lot of politics either way, gone through a lot of presidents. I’m Republican, but I’ve had a lot of Democratic friends. Where do these crazy, super mental cases come from? I mean, it’s like they just came out of the woodwork one day and all of a sudden, all this crazy stuff starts happening. When did that happen, and where did they come from?

RUSH: Well, I’m actually glad you called out there, Shelley, because I myself had this reaction that you’re having within three months of Obama being inaugurated. All through the Bush years, I mean, we saw radical leftists out there, the anti-war people. But it was primarily in the media. I mean, during the Bush years, we had George W. Bush elected twice. John Kerry was a joke running in 2004, never really seriously a contender. Our problems then were that Bush was not reacting to the media — the destruction, his attempts to sabotage his regime and the wars and all this.
