Russell Stagg - Podcast

When Frank’s job ends and his wife, Wendy, leaves him for another woman, he and his loyal Bichon Shih Tzu, Sirius, move to rural Illinois. There, he fulfills his childhood dream of running a planetarium. However, what seems like the start of a fresh chapter quickly spirals into a gripping mystery book when a dead man with an axe buried in his head tumbles out of the star theater projector. The prime suspect is Moonbeam, Wendy’s lover. Determined to clear her name, Frank teams up with the two women and his girlfriend, Michaela, navigating a cast of eccentric characters who bring both chaos and charm to the plot.

From Liz, his assistant with a past that includes an axe-wielding incident in a McDonald’s, to her daughter Kaylee, eight months sober and managing the gift shop, the story is packed with colorful personalities. Add Daniel, a strait-laced accountant who moonlights as a drag queen, and Uncle Elias, a billionaire playboy and romance writer, and the result is one of the most engaging cozy mystery books for adults. The cast also includes a former Broadway actress turned professor, a homicidal college student, a special agent in the Illinois State Police, and a lively assortment of dogs and one cat. Together, Frank and Sirius unravel the twists and turns of this suspenseful yet humorous tale.
