Russia's Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has accused Finland of laying the groundwork for a possible NATO attack on Russia.

In an opinion piece published by Russian news agency, TASS, the former Russian president and prime minister addressed his concerns about Helsinki's NATO membership and growing defence cooperation with the alliance.

Against this backdrop, Finland's Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Defence, Pasi Rajala, has just ended an official visit to Australia this week aimed at promoting defence technology and cooperation.
