GRAB SOME ICE GIVEAWAY: https://www.slcpuck.com/p/giveaway-grab-some-ice
The Utah Mammoth made headlines on Wednesday by announcing the signing of entry level contracts for top prospects Danil But and Dmitry Simashev, who were both selected in the 2023 NHL Draft. As KSL.com’s Ryan Miller reported, the duo has been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League, even helping Lokomotiv Yaroslavl win the Gagarin Cup earlier this month. They share more than just team chemistry — both bring imposing size. Simashev stands at 6-foot-5, while But measures 6-foot-6.
General manager Bill Armstrong told the media on Wednesday that his two prized Russian prospects will have a strong chance at cracking the NHL roster this summer. To SLC Puck host Austin Facer, it’s exciting to think how impactful the duo’s size and skating ability could impact the team, while also maintaining Utah’s signature strengths; youth and cap space, in tact. It’s a big chapter in the Mammoth’s ongoing offseason storyline.
