Ariel gets everyone in the holiday spirit by talking about the spirits at The Rolling Hills Asylum in East Bethany, NY just a few hours north of us. We ask the ghosts if they have Tinder maybe one to many times, and debrief the history of the building from open to closing operations and now is a tourist attraction.

If you need a spoiler alert for movies from the 70s-90s, just be real with yourself, you weren't going to watch them anyways and someone has already told you about them. In this part 2 of the wonderful Ed Gein duo, Andrea tells Ariel about seven movies that were inspired, or slightly inspired by Ed's crimes. We also do a little google search that gives you a sense of what our search history might look like.

Episode 3! AND we do our first 2 Parter... Not because we planned on it, but actually because we don't shut up when we are together, and decided to spare you a 2-hour episode (for now). WARNING: If you don't like swearing, you're probably not going to like us. Ariel tells Andrea about the history and hauntings of Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, NY over a box of wine. Ariel remembers her childhood and we unpack some personal thoughts on energy/spirits/ghosts and start planning our field trip to Old Fort Niagara. We test out our new technology - please spare us - remembering to talk into a microphone is hard - I promise we will get it next time - Maybe.

Welcome to Rust Belt Baggage's first EVER episode, and the first episode of our 'Missing Persons' series. Hosted by Ariel Peters and Andrea Hurley from Buffalo, NY. When deciding to start a true-crime/paranormal podcast, we wanted to use this platform as a way to draw attention to missing person cases across the nation for everyone, but especially for BIPOC cases that tend to get brushed under the rug by the public and law enforcement alike. When the Gabby Petito's case started drawing so much attention we couldn't just ignore it and decided to do an overview of the case up to September 26, 2021 (when we recorded) and draw attention to the fact that it swept the nation at great strides and even though her family was INCREDIBLY grateful for the attention (as any missing persons family/friends would be), they recognized that not every missing person case gets such a response from the public. This week, the Petito Family, announced the formation of 'The Gabby Petito Foundation' www.gabbypetitofoundation.org They are still figuring out the details, but this foundation will provide resources, funding, attention, etc. for cases that are similar to Gabby's. Please consider donating.
In this episode, Ariel does an overview of what has happened so far up to September 26, 2021.
