USA Today's Bob Nightengale came out with a long notebook on Sunday and had a couple interesting Padres tidbits in there. He said San Diego is "aggressively trying to sign Juan Soto to a contract extension" and if Bob Melvin takes the fall at the end of the season, offensive coordinator Ryan Flaherty is "a strong candidate" to replace him. Would Flaherty actually help change things?
