With summer here now, hopefully some good weather to come too and with some of us thinking about flying off to the sun for our summer holidays, for this week’s check in with Pharmacist Elizabeth Roddick from New Life Pharmacy in Glasgow, Connect Radio’s Toby Davey finds out from Elizabeth all about sun and sunscreens.

Elizabeth began by explaining to Toby how sunscreens actually work to protect us from the sun and when is the best time to apply our sun protection. 

With one of the recent check in’s with Elizabeth about vitamin D and how it is produced on our skin from the sun Toby asked Elizabeth whether there are any other benefits from the sun at all.

Finally Elizabeth gave some advice on what we should do if we sadly do manage to get sunburnt this summer.
