Known as the Speed Freak Killers, Wesley Shermantine and Loren Herzog were a dangerous combination. The men had grown up as friends from an early age and began with bullying and harassment of others before moving onto more series crimes. .

Between the two of them they were convicted in 2001 in the deaths of four people, though police estimate they may have killed more than 70 people between 1984 and 1999
