Jemma Davidson, RNIB Customer Insight Coordinator, shares the latest opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to get involved in with RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey.

Opportunities highlighted this week included:

Can your blind or partially sighted child benefit simply from watching TV?
Help us estimate the value of creative audio description!
Researchers are looking for typically developing children and teenagers who are blind or visually impaired, willing to take part in a study involving watching a video animation and a short interview.
Total estimated time will be 30 minutes.
Meetings (at your convenience) will happen in the University of York’s School of Arts and Creative Technologies, Heslington, York, or in other more convenient place, e.g. at the local library in your city.
Compensation will be a £30 shopping voucher.
If you would like to take part in the study or get more information about it, please contact Dr Monika Zabrocka by e-mail: [email protected]

RNIB survey on video games: help us understand the impact of being able to play the video games you want to play.
At the RNIB we are working with a gaming studio to explore people’s experiences and preferences in relation to playing games and how enjoyable playing video games are for people with a vision impairment. There are two participant categories for the survey; Gamers with sight loss and Ex-gamers with sight loss.
It doesn’t matter how you play (console, desktop, laptop, smart phone or tablet) or whether you play strategy games, adventure games or if you’re a puzzle game fan, we want to hear from you.
For more details and a link to the survey do email - [email protected]

Help Make Broadcast Sports Accessible!
The RNIB is supporting an industry partner on a video about making broadcast sports accessible.
The production team are looking for one or two people who’d like to be involved – people who have sight loss who enjoy sports and would like to come in for a day’s filming, watching sport with other fans and having their reactions and comments filmed.
The video will be shot in London in the next month or so. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested.
