The return of RNIB Connect Voices opportunities to RNIB Connect Radio with Amrit Dhaliwal who is just coming up to the end of her internship with the RNIB Research and Insight Team.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey firstly asked Amrit about her internship with the RNIB, an outline of the skills and experiences she has gained during her time with the RNIB and the benefits of taking up an internship in helping to start your career journey or helping you when returning to employment after a break.

Then to just one RNIB Connect Voices opportunity  -

Maia, a University of Edinburgh student, is working on their final year honours project to develop a robotic guide dog system. The study will explores how robotic guide dogs could enhance the lives of people with visual impairments, and how to improve the way current technology-based navigation systems interact with their users.

Maia is hoping to learn about your daily experiences, how you interact with guide dogs (or manage without one), and your thoughts on how a robotic guide dog could support you in your everyday life.

What’s involved?

 

A short interview (approximately 30 minutes) at a time that works for you, conducted online, via phone or in person (if you live around Edinburgh). There may also be an opportunity to test the system in early March if you live in the Edinburgh area, however this is completely optional.
