A burst of winter rain has seen green shoots start to emerge in one of the country's most draught-hit regions after months of extreme dry conditions.

Farmers in South Australia are cautiously optimistic after another weekend of rain continued a wet July and as thousands of bales of hay are delivered from Western Australia.
