  • Christ Calling the Sabbath a Delight
This sermon explores the true nature of the Sabbath by examining Jesus' interaction with the Pharisees in Matthew 12. It contrasts the burdensome, legalistic restrictions imposed by religious leaders with Christ's definition of the day as a time for mercy and necessity. The preacher argues that the Sabbath was created for human benefit and serves as a fundamental need for reflecting on God's creation and redemption. By highlighting Jesus' authority over the Sabbath, the message asserts that the day is intended for acts of compassion and spiritual renewal rather than rigid extra biblical keeping of man made rules. Ultimately, the text calls believers to view the Sabbath not as a heavy obligation but as a glorious opportunity to behold and proclaim divine mercy through Christ.

  • A Christian described by Jesus
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6) *If we are a true Christian Jesus Christ will be:* *1/ The way to us. 2/ The Truth to us. 3/ Our life.* **Sermon summary:** The sermon defines the essential characteristics of a true Christian by examining Jesus Christ's declaration in John 14:6 as the way, the truth, and the life. It argues that genuine faith requires exclusive reliance on Christ for salvation, rejecting all other paths or religious syncretism. The message emphasizes adherence to biblical authority, including the reality of hell, heaven, judgment, and the moral law, which are often denied in modern culture. Furthermore, it asserts that Christ's lordship extends to daily conduct, affirming doctrines such as creation, the Sabbath, and marriage against contemporary secular trends. Ultimately, an authentic believer demonstrates this faith through a transformed life where Christ permeates every aspect of thought and action.

  • John 9 - The Marvel of Human Blindness
John chapter 9, focusing on the healing of a man born blind as a profound sign of Jesus Christ's identity as the Light of the World. Key themes include the purpose of suffering to display God's works, the urgency of doing good works while there is still time, and the danger of relying on man-made traditions over Scripture. Physical restoration of sight contrasts with the spiritual blindness exhibited by the religious leaders who reject Jesus despite undeniable evidence. True faith requires recognizing Jesus as the Messiah and receiving spiritual sight through belief in Him, rather than remaining in self-righteous unbelief.

  • The Lord of the Sabbath
When the Pharisees accuse Jesus' disciples of unlawful Sabbath-breaking, Christ answers from Scripture and declares His authority over the Sabbath. The controversy is not merely about grainfields or religious regulations. It reveals the identity and authority of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the greater David who defends and feeds His needy people. He is the faithful interpreter of God's law, correcting both careless worldliness and harsh legalism. The Sabbath was made for man as a gracious gift for worship, rest, mercy, sanctification, and spiritual refreshment. Yet man is not lord of the Sabbath. Jesus Christ is Lord even of the Sabbath. This sermon calls believers to receive the Christian Lord's Day as Christ's holy gift. We must not make it common through ordinary commerce, entertainment, recreation, and self-pleasing. Neither must we distort it through man-made rules, censoriousness, or neglect of mercy and necessity. In Christ, weary sinners find true rest, and every Lord's Day becomes a foretaste of the eternal Sabbath that remains for the people of God.

  • Old Testament Messianic Prophecies Part 14
Gavin says "in this St. Kilien's Day sermon…we shall consider 1stly, the dating of Christ's public Ministry in the Oracle of the 70 Weeks of Daniel 9:24-27; & 2ndly, Christ's ministry to Gentiles e.g., in Zabulon & Nepthalim, Isaiah 9:1 & 2." And "from my Protestant Historicist School of Prophetic Interpretation understanding with an important qualification, we shall consider the amazing Biblical prophecy of the Oracle of the 70 Weeks in Daniel 9, which pinpoint dates the Public Ministry of the Messiah to 26 to 30 A.D. .The...qualification...is for the purposes of today's sermon the issue isolated is only the Christ's or Messiah's Public Ministry years from 26 to 30 A.D., but in fact, there is much, much, more prophetic doctrinal richness in this Oracle that we will not be considering today." "The holy prophet Amos saith in Amos 3:7, 'the Lord God…revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.' And God's prophet and pen-man of Holy Esaias records God saying in Isaiah 46:9 & 10, 'I am God, & there is none else, I am God, & there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, & from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, & I will do all my pleasure.' And Jesus of Nazareth who is the Christ or Messiah saith in St. John 13:19, 'Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may BELIEVE that I am he.' For prophecies are given, in part, that when God the Holy Ghost illuminates our minds as to their meaning, we understand their fulfilment, & we may thus have the Divine Inspiration of Holy Scripture confirmed to our hearts & minds. For Christ also saith in St. John 10:35, 'The Scripture cannot be broken'."
