Solly Malatsi Legacy foundation donated soccer boots and balls to 25 youngsters around Limpopo’s Capricorn District. The foundation hosted the youngsters including a young female football side and their coaches at Meropa Casino on Monday. The foundation’s chairperson and South African member of parliament Solly Malatsi says their target is to reach as many needy sports loving kids as possible. The foundation has also roped in the assistance of Taiwan ambassador to South Africa Wei Chung Chou who was also present at the event.

Black Leopards assistant coach Patrick Mabedi says the technical team is patient with striker Mwape Musonda after he joined the pre-season camp late last week. Musonda had reportedly gone Awol when the side assembled for pre-season to try and force a move out of the club.

SAFA’s Financial Chief, Gay Mokoena, says the national football body is making positive headway with the SABC in their bid to find common ground over a new broadcast deal. The two parties have been at loggerheads several times in recent months over money – which has led to ordinary South Africans suffering due to Bafana Bafana games not being broadcasted. The latest disagreement came late last year when the association rejected a R10 million offer from SABC to broadcast an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but Mokoena, the chairman of SAFA’s Finance and Remuneration Committee, believes both parties are slowly reaching an amicable solution.

The team is now in the quarterfinals and will meet Nigeria at the same venue on Wednesday.

Cape Town City Assistant coach Vasili Manousakis did not have too much of a break in the off season, as he headed to Northern Ireland to start the course for a UEFA B Licence.
