When Mamelodi Sundowns returns for pre-season at the end of this month, they are planning their camps all over the continent including a base in Europe, possibly in Holland. This was confirmed by the Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane who revealed that their pre-season planning is informed by their objectives next season especially in the CAF Champions League. The Brazilians won their Absa Premiership title last season but unfortunately bowed out in the semi-finals in the CAFCL. The biennial tournament will commence from Friday until the 19th of next month. SA will kick-off their campaign against Ivory Coast next week Monday. The Director of Volleyball South Africa Gershon Rorich is excited with another edition of the Volleyball League which is currently taking place in Kempton Park for the next four weeks. The League kicked off this past weekend and will see nine provincial teams battling for the main prize. Chad le Clos says he is doing all he can to change the dynamics of swimming in the country, but wants stronger funding initiatives to ensure the sport transformed at a quicker rate. Even though a quarter of a century has elapsed since South Africa gained democracy, black Africans in pools at elite national level are non-existent. It is not a sport that the country’s majority had or even has easy access to, with pools in townships and rural areas a rarity. Le Clos has been doing his bit through his foundation to try and change things in recent years, but the 27-year-old is still not satisfied.
